Multi - wavelength study of the gravitational lens system RXS J 1131 - 1231 III . Long slit

Aims. We discuss and characterize micro-lensing among the 3 brightest lensed images (A-B-C) of the gravitational lens system RXS J1131-1231 (a quadruply imaged AGN) by means of long slit optical and NIR spectroscopy. Qualitative constraints on the size of different emission regions are derived. We also perform a spectroscopic study of two field galaxies located within 1.6 arcmin radius from the...

Time-delay Measurement for the Quadruple Lens Rx J1131−1231

We have measured the three time delays for the quadruple gravitational lens RX J1131−1231 using two seasons of monitoring data. The short delays between cusp images are A–B = 11.98 −1.27 days and A–C = 9.61 −1.57 days. The long A–D delay for the counter image is not as precisely determined because of the season gaps, but the data suggest a delay of −87±8 days. The short delays are difficult to ...

Unlensing HST Observations of the Einstein Ring 1RXS J1131-1231: A Bayesian Analysis

We present a source and lens reconstruction for the optical Einstein ring gravitational lens system RXS J1131-1231. We resolve detail in the source, which is the host galaxy of a z = 0.658 quasar, down to a resolution of 0.045 arc seconds (this is the size of the smallest conclusively resolved structures, rather than the pixel scale), using a Bayesian technique with a realistic model for the pr...
